iRobot Roomba
Roomba speaks a plain local MQTT protocol under the app. One cloud login pulls out your own robot's password, and from then on it cleans, docks and answers without the cloud.
What it can become
What owners already do with it, easiest first.
Drive it from a simple REST call
rest980 wraps dorita980 in a small local HTTP server, so starting a clean or checking battery level is one request away for Home Assistant, a script, or a button on a dashboard.
Get your own robot's local password
dorita980 logs into your iRobot account once to pull your robot's local MQTT password, then saves it so every later connection stays on your LAN.
Keep an older Roomba going for good
Covers the 600 through 900 series and the e, i and j series on firmware 1.x through 3.x. The newest Matter-first models (Combo Max and later) use a different v4 protocol dorita980 does not yet support.
