Wyze Cam

Built to stream through Wyze's own servers. A reverse-engineered bridge gets the video local on most models, and one older model takes a full firmware swap.

What it can become

What owners already do with it, easiest first.

An evening~20 minNo risk

Automate it in Home Assistant

A community integration exposes motion events and camera controls as entities, through Wyze's cloud API rather than your local network.

Watch your cams without Wyze's app

A bridge on your network turns each camera into a plain RTSP or WebRTC stream for any viewer or NVR. A developer key is required once; some newer firmware still falls back to the cloud for parts of the connection.

Hands-on~1.5 hCan brick it

Replace a v2's firmware entirely

Wyze Cam v2 shares its camera chip with other cheap cameras that take a genuine open-source firmware, flashed over a microSD card. Later models (v3 and up) use different hardware and are not covered.
