Self-hosted replacement for the reMarkable cloud sync service

What it is

rmfakecloud is a self-hosted stand-in for reMarkable's own cloud: it syncs and backs up a reMarkable's notes to a server you run, instead of reMarkable's servers, and works without a reMarkable account. The project's own release notes confirm file sync through reMarkable software 3.27.1, with newer software versions untested.

How it works

A server you run (configured through environment variables, most of all where the tablet should reach it) replaces reMarkable's cloud endpoints. On the tablet side, a local proxy, a hosts file change and a new certificate redirect its usual cloud traffic to that server instead, installed either by hand or by one of the project's own per-model installer scripts. The same server also offers a web UI for pairing a device and, depending on configuration, extra features such as emailing documents or WebDAV and FTP storage.
