Python library for Philips Hue bridges

What it is

phue is a Python library for controlling a Philips Hue bridge: lights, groups, schedules, scenes and sensors, compliant with the Hue API 1.0. It has no dependencies beyond Python itself, works with Python 2.6 and up as well as Python 3, and is a single file, phue.py, that drops straight into a project or a search path.

How it works

phue talks to the bridge over its own local HTTP API. Calling connect() once registers the library as an authorized user, which the first time means pressing the bridge's physical link button, and only needs doing once. After that, methods like get_light and set_light send requests straight to the bridge's own IP address, working with a single light by its id or name, or with a list of several at once, either calling methods directly or building Light objects to work with in a more object oriented way.
